Safety barrier for internal bus RS485 B-IB

The Communications Separator B-IB must establish an interface between intrinsically safe circuits (devices located in potentially explosive zones or atmospheres) and other circuits that are located outside of potentially explosive zones. The device performs the function of intrinsically safe separator for internal communication intrinsically safe bus corrector. It can be easily connected to the internal intrinsically safe bus of the corrector or recorder as an RS485 communication bus as an SRM controller module.

The B-IB Safety barrier for the internal bus is supplied with 12 V DC.

The Communication Separator is placed in a plastic box and is designed for installation into a rack on DIN 35 mm rail.

The separator contains interference protection and reverses polarity protection from the power supply. The communication isolator is equipped with an intrinsically safe RS485 interface (terminals D +, D-, U +, GND) for connection to the intrinsically safe internal communication bus (IB) of the corrector or recorder.

The U + and GND terminals supply the internal intrinsically safe power supply voltage to supply the corrector's internal bus (IB) communication interface. To connect a communication device (eg. SRM module) to the B-IB communication separator, the separator is equipped with D +, D- terminals of the standard RS485 communication interface. The communication separator is a transparent device from the signal point of view, ie. the communication signals passing through the separator do not change their characteristics (the communication protocol used and the communication speed used are maintained).

The B-IB communication separator has galvanic isolation between the RS485 intrinsically safe circuit and the standard RS485 interface.

The device is designed and approved as a follow-up device. This means that only approved intrinsically safe devices complying with the intrinsically safe parameters specified in the EC-Type Examination Certificate may be connected to the intrinsically safe terminals of the instrument. The next connected equipment must be located outside the explosive zone operation.
